Sixty young people from Jomoro District Assembly have been registered to be trained as health extension workers in various health facilities under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).
After the six month of their training some of them would be assigned to undertake door-to- door Primary Health Care services and other home-based health activities in the community.
Honorable Martin Ackah, Jomoro District Chief Executive in his address at half Assini last week noted that the training would help address the districts shortage of staff in most of the health facilities.
The youth should take advantage of the various modules in the NYEP and get employed
so as to meaningfully contribute to their district development, he added.
District coordinator of the programme, Mr. Matthew Nda pointed out that NYEP was a legacy the present government could offer the unemployed in the country and advised the youth to stand up for it.
The resource personnel’s training the health extension workers are Madam Hannah Addo, District Director of Health and other senior health officers.
