Mr Kweku Adjekum, Head teacher of Kanashie Presbyterian Preparatory School, on Saturday advised parents to make their children’s education a priority and get actively involved in their academic, social and spiritual development.
“It is unfortunate some parents’ believe that the education of their children is the sole responsibility of teachers. It depends on you parents and the teacher”, The Head teacher gave the advice at the schools Speech and Prize-Giving Day in Accra.
The day was instituted to reorganize pupils and teachers who excel in their field of study and profession respectively.
He said every child had a talent and it was the responsibility of their parents and teacher to develop such gifts to benefit of the society.
“It is only when one is able to develop his or her talent with academics that is when such a person can become someone in future,” Mr. Adjekum said.
He said the upsurge of streetism in Ghana was because some parents have neglected their responsibility adding, “just as hereditary and environment play a vital role in shaping the child so parents should assist teachers in their child’s education.”
Mr. Adjekum called on the mothers not to spend their money on cloths but to strive hard to provide the necessary educational materials for their children and appealed to pupils to be obedient to their parents.
Miss Monica Quashie emerged as the best student.
