‘CPP Is The Best’
Posted by on December 1, 2007 at 3:32 pm in News From Other NewspapersA LEADING contender in the Convention People’s Party (CPP) flagbearer contest has described CPP as the best among the various political parties in the country.
Dr. Kwaku Osafo has stated that the CPP has antidotes to the countless problems confronting the country, insisting, “CPP is the best party to take the country to the promised land within the shortest possible timeâ€.
He has therefore entreated the electorate to vote the party into power in the 2008 general elections.
Dr. Osafo, speaking in an interview with DAILY GUIDE in Kumasi, stated that after trying the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) administrations, Ghanaians should give the CPP a chance to prove to them that it was the best political party around.
He commended the NPP and NDC for playing vital roles in bringing the country to its current state, stressing that Ghana, at this moment, needed the CPP to lead it to economic prosperity.
“The NDC ensured transition from military rule to democracy, whilst the NPP has ensured a stable economy, therefore it is the turn of the CPP to promote human development,†he said.
According to Dr. Osafo, CPP as a political party stood for the growth and development of the country, contending that the party would ensure human centred development when voted into power in 2008.
He expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the upcoming general elections, saying “CPP will cause a major upset in the country’s political history by emerging winners in the 2008 general elections.â€
The presidential aspirant refuted assertions that the CPP was a party of the aged in the country, noting that the party was for Ghanaians irrespective of age, tribe, religion or financial background.
Dr. Osafo described the CPP as a national party which could unite the citizenry and accelerate the development of the country.
He predicted victory in the CPP presidential race, saying “My chances are very bright and by God’s grace I will take the enviable position in the party to lead it to victory in the general elections.â€
He said delegates of the party across the country welcomed him with open arms, and that they have also promised to elect him as their flagbearer to win political power for the party next year.
Dr. Osafo said he would use education to develop the country to prosperity, insisting that in the 21st century, no country could develop without educating its citizens.
He grieved about the inadequate educational facilities in the country and contended that the country should by now be boasting of 30 to 40 universities.
He urged Ghanaians to start believing in their capabilities, produce their own goods locally, and patronize made in Ghana goods.
