Nduom coasting to a landslide victory

History of political primaries suggests that the presence of visible numbers prior to such occasions might not necessarily be a sure bet for victory. But where people who matter-delegates- in such primaries, show open support for a particular candidate, then the long standing conception about numbers in such instance stands a great threat.

That is the story at day one of the Convention People’s Party’s national delegates primary to elect a standard bearer and other party executives here at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi.

Delegates to the party’s primary openly troop to the Nduom campaign camp and openly show solidarity to Dr. Nduom who is easily the frontrunner in the CPP presidential primary.

“We are here to vote for Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom and surely there is nothing wrong in coming to the Nduom campaign office to show our commitment to the cause of our choice for the next president of the Republic of Ghana”, Mamavi Abla, a delegate from the Volta Region told the Ghanaian Journal.

So far delegates from the Eastern, Western, Central, Volta and the three Northern Regions have all openly shown their support to Dr. Nduom.

They told the Ghanaian Journal that their other colleagues who are yet to hit the congress grounds are expected to show similar solidarity on their arrival.

The Ghanaian Journal investigations show that Dr. Nduom is home and dry with eight regions.

The regions are Central, Western, Eastern, and Volta Regions. The rest are Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern and the Upper East Regions.

The media also seem to be excited about the enthusiasm at the Nduom camp. All radio and newspaper representatives have been on the former Minister of State, enquiring from him what his vision would be for the CPP and of course in the event of winning the national presidential race in 2008.

Students from the KNUST and other tertiary institutions in the Kumasi metropolis also electrified the Nduom campaign office with non-stop singing.

Clad in Nduom T-Shirt, the students who also have representatives in the delegates have been engaged in Nduom-solidarity songs since their arrival at the congress grounds.

Shockingly, the other presidential primary who stormed the campaign grounds, basking in hope went underground the moment Dr. Nduom stormed the grounds with eight of his campaign cars.

Dr. Nduom gave assurance in one of his addresses to regional delegates that the cars will be distributed to all ten regions after he has won tomorrow’s contest.

One Response to “Nduom coasting to a landslide victory”

  1. Jacob Yakubu said:

I have always believed that Nduom has a well planned machine, and the CPP hopefuls are only getting a glimpse of what he is capable of. Coming in with 8 vehicles at this stage just freezes everybody. No wonder they all went underground after that presentation. I’m also glad that the youth is behind him because the party needs them to show the country that the new CPP is in tune with the future generation, a necessary ingredient for political victory in Ghana.

Of course this is the beginning of the battle, and so far I’m encouraged by the news from Kumasi. At least I know the 2008 campaign will not boring, for I believe Nduom could go toe to toe with any of the leaders in NPP and NDC. Nduom is a good presenter, and i’m waiting for the speech of his life tomorrow. Please keep us informed as fast as you can, not after, but during the congress. FORWARD, I SAY!
