Nduom, Akosa ignite CPP Congress

The two front-runners in the CPP presidential race, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom and Professor Agyemang Badu Akosa today ignited the congress grounds of the party with some powerful and incisive speeches that underlined the fact that the two are the hot favourites in today’s congress.

While Dr. Nduom was hilarious, witty and very commanding on his programme for the CPP, Prof. Akosa was as usual very robust, belligerent and took subtle swipes at his opponents in his speech.

There could not be any scientific methods to adjudicate which speech received the most popular response, but if it was only by judging the faces of the respondents and their gestures, then Dr. Nduom is likely to coast home to victory.

Yet what might agitate the minds of Nduom supporters is whether the response from the delegates will be enough to avoid a possible round-off.

The Ghanaian Journal discovered that in an event of a second round, all four of the other presidential candidates are prepared to come together against an Nduom candidature.

According to Dr. Nduom, if he becomes president, there would not be any need to experiment because he has tutored himself through the political ranks to offer an experience leadership.

“I have been an Assemblyman, competed twice as an MP, currently an MP and have served at four cabinet ministerial positions”, Dr. Nduom declared.

Then he went into some populist overdrive that definitely drew the most popular response from the delegates.

“Anytime President Kufuor travels, I watch him and I know that the moment he leaves the Castle, I will be the best bet for the presidential seat”, Dr. Nduom declared.

On the controversial Serious Fraud Office report, Dr. Nduom said he has nothing to hide or fear because he has paid all his taxes both in the United States and in Ghana and made biblical allusion to that aspirant who said like Apostle Paul, he was in the CPP race to save the party.

Dr. Nduom however advised the said candidate thus “If he says he is Paul, then he should go out like Paul did to bring in more people to the Party because like the chosen one in the bible, I am Peter, the rock”, who ostensibly has no peers”.

On his part, Prof. Akosah bemoaned the practice where politicians exploit delegates during such periods of political campaigns and only turn their backs against them when it mattered most for delegates to enjoy the toil of their labour.

According Prof. Akosa, Ghanaians are looking up to the CPP to help improve the living conditions of Ghanaians and therefore asked CPP delegates to look up to that person who can stand firm in pushing the Ghanaian people to the promised land that they are all yearning for.
