MEMBERS OF the Ghana Veterinary Medical Association (GVMA) have expressed their deepest sympathy to His Excellency, President John Agyekum Kufuor on the recent accident involving his motorcade which occurred at the Opeibea intersection in Accra.

This was contained in a statement issued in Accra and signed by Dr. K.B Darkwa, president of the GVMA.

“The Association takes this opportunity to wish the President, God’s protection and long-life to enable him continue with the good work in steering the affairs of the country,” it said.

The Association expressed its concern about the high level of indiscipline on the roads, both in the cities and on the highways and called on institutions mandated to maintain discipline on the roads to strictly enforce the laws on road safety.

Thomas Osei, a businessman, allegedly rammed his Mercedes Benz at top speed into the official vehicle carrying the President to the office.
Mr Osei has since been put before court.

If Dr. K.B Darkwa has any plans to enter active politics it is better to make it plain and use other platforms than that of veterinary officers. Not that I could have had any cause to complain if the accident in question affected the limb of the President’s cat, OR that Mr. Thomas Osei, a businessman, whose Mercedes Benz car allegedly rammed into the official vehicle carrying the President at top speed is actually the name of a goat carrying a valid drivers licence.

There are so many issues this poor guy could have used to draw attention to himself such as effects of World Bank sponsored insecticides on domestic pets. This could also , for example help us to know the Greek gifts we have been receiving from the multinational pharmaceutical companies under the guise of combatting mosquitoes etc etc.

Well, our good man can talk about any subject under the sun, this is a democracy, and maybe, on second thoughts, this has news quality because it is not the MTU talking about road accidents. Next time the Director of the MTU wants to enter into politics I recommend strongly he follows Dr. Darkwa’s lead and talk about the stomach ache of German shepherds!
