Mr Andy Appiah Kubi, Deputy Chief Executive of the Free Zones Board put up a spirited and magnificent fight but lost to incumbent MP for the Asante Akyem North constituency, Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu when he had 58 votes as against 90 votes in a titanic NPP constituency primaries held at Agogo.
The election was supervised by the District Electoral Commission. In attendance was, Mr Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, Minister of Information.
Mr Andy Appiah Kubi in a speech accepted defeat and described the elections as free, fair and transparent.
He gave the assurance that he would work in close collaboration with Mr Baah-Wiredu and join his campaign forces to win the December elections.
He told his supporters to accept the defeat and refrain from acts which would invariably have negative impact on the party.
He called on all to unite and work to win the elections. Mr Baah-Wiredu in a short speech thanked all the delegates for the confidence reposed in him which has enabled him to consolidate his position.
He assured them he would continue with developmental programmes to enhance the constituency’s development efforts.
