‘Beware of J.J and Kojo Tsikata’
‘A Security Expert (name withheld) has warned that events unfolding on the political scene are akin to similar orchestrations that led to the overthrow of the People’s National Party government of Dr. Hilla Limann in 1981.
“President Kufuor should be very mindful about how Rawlings and Kojo Tsikata hijacked and stole the people’s mandate in 1979. I want to believe that events unfolding on the political scene currently are so synonymous with how the two people plotted the December ‘81 coup”, the expert noted.
Government intelligence at the time reported to President Limann the secret meetings and other clandestine overtures being made by Flt. Lt. Rawlings and Captain Tsikata to woo people into a grand plot to destabilize the PNP government.
The Security Expert thinks the utterances of Captain Tsikata and Rawlings these days are so apprehensive that government ought to put perpetual surveillance on the two, adding Dr. Limann refused to heed to security advice on the activities of Rawlings and paid dearly for that.
Although the Expert would not say he was privy to any possible plot yet, he was apprehensive about the manner the two architects of the 1981 coup have managed to whip up sentiments against the incarceration of another “PNDC-Brain, Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata’ to the extent that the issue has gone beyond the realm of the law into a dangerous ethnicity”.
“We were privy to some of the clandestine meetings that Rawlings and Captain Tsikata held prior to the 1979 coup and I am afraid the current Tsatsu case is gradually uniting the two, who before the Tsatsu incarceration, had a strained relationship”, he noted.
The Expert has warned President Kufuor not to behave like Dr. Limann who refused to act when all security reports pointed to a Rawlings-Kojo Tsikata coup plot.
“The records of the two people in Ghanaian politics are so dangerous that President Kufuor and his government should keep the tabs on the two, lest we all live to regret it”, the Expert noted.
The source is extremely worried about how family members and supporters of the jailed former Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Chief Executive, Tsatsu Tsikata in the Volta Region have constituted themselves into a powerful free Tsatsu bloc since the imprisonment of Mr. Tsakata, exerting threats of mayhem at the court premise any time the Tsatsu case was called. They are being supported by other organized “Free Tsatsu groups”.
“Nobody should delude himself/herself into thinking that the two- Rawlings and Kojo Tsikata, do not know anything about what is going on in the Volta Region in respect of the Tsatsu case”, the Expert warned.
According to the Expert, it is dangerous for such precedents to be set when “indeed Tsatsu is pursuing other avenues to seek justice”, and said he would prefer that the Supreme Court offer its ruling on aspects of the High Court ruling before the comments by Kojo Tsikata and Rawlings which in the estimation of the Expert undermines the integrity of the judiciary and subsequently set the entire country on the edge.
The Expert was equally appalled about the actions of the Socialists Think Tank-Socialist Forum, who he said are made up of some of the finest brains in the country and therefore should have “known better rather than their sentimental posturing”.
He described as unfortunate the attack on the trial judge by Mr. Tsikata the last time he appeared in court. At the last appeal sitting, Mr. Tsakata accused Mrs. Henrietta Aban of being bias in her judgment, saying the ruling of the Appeal’s Court Judge was influenced by her political persuasion.
“That singular act by Tsatsu and other verbal assaults by Captain Tsikata and Rawlings might have necessitated the threatening of lives of Mrs. Abban and a colleague judge who has also has an Aban, as a second name”, the Expert noted.
The Expert expressed worry about the organized mob who throng the courts with some obscene gestures and cast aspersions at the trial judge and government anytime that the Tsatsu case is called.
He believed such a practice if not curtailed could feed into a possible grand scheme of political disturbances in event of the appeal not going in favour of the former GNPC boss.
