KWAME BAAH Nuako, Kotoko’s Communications Director, has denied reports that the club would miss the services of its dependable left full back Harrison Afful when the Porcupine Warriors engage Al-Ittihad of Libya in a continental duel.
He stated categorically that the national star would feature when Kotoko treks to Libya to face the host team in the first leg of the final hurdle of the Africa Confederations Cup elimination tie slated for Friday July 11, 2008.
Speculation was rife in sporting circles that Afful who is in fantastic shape would emplane to Denmark for trials and might not be available when Kotoko play the Libyans.
Though he confirmed Afful’s intended trip to Denmark, the Kotoko Communications Director assured the Porcupine supporters that the national star would be available for the Libya duel.
“Yes Afful would travel to Denmark but he is supposed to meet the rest of the Kotoko team in Tripoli, Libya on July 8, 2008,” he assured.
Mr. Nuako hinted that Kotoko would travel to Libya on July 7, 2008, promising a good show from the two-time African Champions.
Meanwhile information reaching DAILY GUIDE SPORTS indicates that Asante Kotoko would miss the services of their head coach Bashiru Hayford, when the Kumasi-based team battle Al-Ittihad.
Sources say Coach Bash who is bereaved, would be compelled to stay back and mourn the death of his wife, who passed away a few days ago.
In Coach Bash’s absence, his deputy, Johnson Smith would head Kotoko’s technical team as the Porcupine Warriors test the might the North Africans.
