100 to vie for Seniors Golf trophy

About 100 senior golfers would parade at the Windy Bay Golf Course at Winneba to vie for this year’s Ghana Amateur Seniors Open Golf Championship trophy on Saturday, 23 and Sunday, 24 August.

Mr John Wattenburg, Secretary of the Ghana Golf Association told GNA Sports in Accra on Monday that the event, which will be sponsored by Goil Ghana Limited was open to senior golfers of ages 55 years and above.

He said the event, which is the 20th edition, is under the auspices of the Ghana Golf Association and would be played under the rules of the Royal Ancient Golf Club of Scotland and the local rules of the Windy Bay Golf Club.

Mr Wattenburg said there would be a Handicap event for the 50 to 54 year groups while the 65 and above year groups would play in a special event.

Mike Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club would lead his team which would include Dan Dennis, Paul List, Jeoff Fisher, Gilbert Morgan and Michael Ben-George.

Mona Captan, Florence Etwi-Barimah, Adelaide Owusu Adjapong and Clara Price would battle each other in the Ladies section which has three prizes at stake.

Prof George Ntsiful, President of the Ghana Golf Association would take the ceremonial tee-off.

Mr Dua Agyemang, Managing Director of Goil Ghana Limited, would be the Guest of Honour.
