He stated that the country’s educational system continues to fall drastically and nothing has been done to rectify the situation, thereby making it impossible for students to attain the right level of information from their teachers.
According to him, teachers have resorted to other businesses during class hours by selling their wares to students in class so as to raise some funds to append their salaries; this to him has contributed to the aggravation the problem.
Professor Mills assured that the NDC when in power will ensure that teachers are given the right salaries and will be motivated handsomely so that they will feel needed and respected in their field and thereby teach effectively for national development.
He said the time has come for Ghanaians to really understand and appreciate the work and contribution of teachers, thus his government will put in place accommodation and educational facilities to assist teachers in their research for better teaching.
The flag bearer of the NDC noted that free education as proclaimed by the NPP is not the answer to the current fall of education in the country, but rather ensuring that teachers are well motivated and facilities which are to be provided by government is in place, education will be enticing and beneficial to all.
He called on party faithful and teachers to rally round the NDC to make sure that the party wins power come December since it is only the NDC who can change Ghana .
