The spontaneous enthusiasm of a large crowd of members of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) who converged at the Old Barrier of Tamale in the Northern region to welcome the party’s flag bearer, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, to the municipality, gives a clear indication that the CPP has gained grounds and a miracle is on its way.

The spectacular scene by which the sea of CPP supporters, who were in fleet of cars with some on motor bikes, accompanied their flag bearer from the barrier to the town left many of their political opponents spellbound. And not even the scorching pain of the sun could deter the ecstatic crowd from demonstrating their unwavering support for the party.

This was during Dr Nduom’s triumphant entry to Tamale for the second presidential debate organized by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA). Accompanying the CPP presidential candidate were, his wife, Mrs Yvonne Nduom, his vice-presidential nominee, Dr Abu Foster Sakara, the General Secretary, Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, the campaign manager, Mr Richmond Lamptey, the campaign strategist, Mr David Ampofo and the communications director, Mr Richmond Keelson and Campaign Manager for Mrs. Nduom, Samuel Kofi Ampah.

Hundreds of the party’s sympathizers and faithful also lined up along the streets of the town to catch a glimpse of the CPP flag bearer, and who waved to him and admired his response with the ‘yeresasamu’ sign.

As he was being driven through the principal streets of Tamale, Dr Nduom, absolutely overwhelmed by the rapturous welcome accorded him could not help but to acknowledge the attention of his admirers from his vehicle. The politically charged atmosphere in the town and the high patronage of the youth depicted the fact that the CPP has gained a lot of support not only in the northern parts but across the entire country.

Dr Nduom later addressed his supporters and expressed his appreciation by thanking them for their impressive turnout. He was confident about his party’s chances in the Northern parts, and observed that it will overwhelmingly sweep the polls in the three Northern regions of the country.

According to him it was refreshing that, the CPP had come to the North and there have been no disturbances. He urged them to continue comporting themselves for Ghanaians to know that by voting for the CPP, they will be voting for peace to reign in the country.

The CPP flag bearer said it was regrettable that both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the National Patriotic Party (NPP) did little to develop the North. He attributed this to the lack of interest and commitment by the two parties to transforming the Northern regions.

To this end, he asked them to vote massively for the CPP in the December polls for real development to come to north. He noted that the only party that made frantic efforts to develop the North was the CPP under Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana ’s first president. He said if given the opportunity his administration will not relent in its efforts to bridge the gap between the north and south by creating jobs and providing potable drinking water in the three Northern regions of the country.

Dr Nduom urged them to canvass for votes for the party by wooing more eligible voters, and calling on them to go along with their loved ones, relatives and friends to vote massively for his party on the day of voting.
