Samia Nkrumah, Member of Parliament (MP) elect for Jomoro and daughter of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has denied allegations that it was through the help of the ruling party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) that made her win the seat, adding that the allegations are false and should not be taken seriously.

“The daughter of Kwame Nkrumah comes and she said she wants to contest and she wants to be faithful to the principles of Nkrumah and you think a thousand Ghanaians would not come forward to help her.

“Why would I need to go to ant party either than the Nkrumah’s? The individual Ghanaians have helped me, I could not have done this campaign, the expense was unbelievable and there is no way I could have done it without the help of industrious sons of this country”.

She said the legacy of her father played a very significant role in her winning and that the Convention People’s Party (CPP) was complimenting the legacy adding that they understood what Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was trying to do for his country and people.

“We understood the principles of Nkrumaism, which are liberation, social justice, unity and peace and unity. We understood what he was trying to do and that is what we told the people of Jomoro.

“We are inspired by Kwame Nkrumah’s vision and his effort to develop Ghana rapidly and we want to replicate that in a small way in Jomoro. We want to make Jomoro a showcase and this is how we do it”.

To her, the CPP’s inability to win the December 7 election is very disappointing and assured that together they will ensure that CPP is built to be able to appeal all to become members of a great cause.

According to her, visiting the people of her constituency and knowing the needs of the people gave her fair idea on what platform to campaign and that her charisma as a person also played a very significant role.

She explained that her ability to reach out to the people and that when asked why she could not speak her native language, “I explain to them how her family was forced to leave their country, I also often use my body language and the help of my team to communicate effectively with my people and I think they did not only understood me, but my message as well”.

“For me it was very important that I start from Nzema land where the journey began for Kwame Nkrumah, I couldn’t just go any where in Ghana, I needed a point of reference and that was why I went back to Jomoro as a daughter who has returned”.

The only CPP representative in next Parliament revealed that politics is not to insult your opponent or use negative ideas, but rather going to the people you want to lead and telling them about your dream to make their community better and improve lives and recommended that it would help the country a great deal if politicians learn to engage in active politics devoid of dishonesty.

She commended the people of Jomoro for having the faith in her to elect her to lead the constituency and assured she will do everything possible to ensure that the community becomes a place to behold.
