The NPP Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Hon Maxwell Kofi Jumah is bent on suing Mr Raymond Archer, the editor-In-chief of the Enquirer newspaper as well as Radio Gold, an Accra based radio station for libel. The seriousness of the sue came after, the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper and a panellist on Radio Gold, Mr Kwesi Pratt, confidently stated on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo†Morning Show, that one Blackie and Mr Archer’s tape was a fraud.
It would be recalled that, a Tape was played on a programme called Election Forensics which aired on Radio Gold and hosted by Mr Raymond Archer in the heat of the 2008 run-off elections, purporting to be the voice of Hon. Jumah, allegedly conspiring with some people to cause mayhem in the elections. Speaking to Peace FM from the United States of America, where he is currently on holidays, Hon Jumah said, he had confronted Mr Archer on several occasions to reverse the allegations, but he has refused – so he has decided to use the court by taking legal action.
He also confirmed that, Mr Pratt’s revelation on Peace FM, describing the tape as fraud, inspired him to take the matter to court. According to Hon. Jumah and Mr Pratt, the tape was a fake one manufactured by a person called Blackie, in favour of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party. Hon Jumah said the tape had given him and his Party a bad image, because Mr. Archer played it on air and made insulting comments making him look like a deliberate law- breaker with an intention to subvert the popular will of Ghanaians. “I will sue him, because it was not my voice on that tape,†he concluded.
