He advised that public opinion on the issue should be based on the objectives of education and how the talents of students could be nurtured for the socio-economic development of the country.
In an interview with GNA at Bui on Thursday, Nana Kwaku Wuo, who is an educationist, advised that the matter should not be politicised.
He said “For our own good and for the sake of future generations, Ghanaians must seriously consider what the ultimate values of education in the modern world are supposed to be. We should be able to produce scholars whose output will help accelerate the national developmental processâ€.
Nana Wuo advised the public, particularly parents to give the matter a deep thought before arriving at any conclusions since a change in the duration of the SHS must go with increased infrastructure and other logistics in schools.
He suggested urged the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to make local languages the medium of expression in primary schools to help pupils have a better understanding of lessons.
Nana Wuo appealed to stakeholders in the education sector to take steps and make the teaching and learning of French language compulsory in schools so that students could communicate in the language.
