“I Applied for Leave, was not asked to Proceedâ€- Muktaka Mohammed
Posted by on June 8, 2009 at 11:44 am in Local, Other Top Stories, PoliticsThe embattled Youth and Sports Minister, Alhiaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has told Joy Fm that he applied to take a leave to allow smooth investigations into the allegations made against him by his principal accountant, Mr. Adim Odoom contrary to media reports that he was compelled by President Mills to proceed on leave.
According to him, his action was necessitated by calls from certain elements within the NDC and the hue and cry in the media.
“I took that decision base on the advice certain people gave me and to allow investigations to go on smoothly.†Stressing Allah shall exonerate him after investigations is concluded.
Sounding biblical, the Youth and Sports Minister told Joy Fm in an interview this morning, that the Almighty God was watching those behind the plot to tarnish his had earn reputation disclosing God was on his side.
“I am not taking this matter lightly at all. I am seeking God’s intervention on this issue and I know the truth will finally come out and those behind this plot shall be dealt with.
He further denied any wrong doings and charged the media and party faithfuls who have already concluded that he was guilty of the charges leveled against by his Principal accountant to wait for the out come of the investigations.
He added “It would be appropriate for all of us to wait for the out come of the investigations before we sound judgmental. I strongly believe insulting me would not solve the problem at hand.â€
Alhaji Mubarak further disclosed that there are several distortions in the allegations, arguing that how can a man of his stature demand those items knowing, very well that such demands could land him in trouble.
He was of the view that his intention of cutting down profligate and changing the ‘way of doing things was the cause certain individuals whom he described as ‘crooks’ ganging up to abort his intention.
‘That is why some people are finding ways of destroying me. After four months I have been able to succeed in changing lots of things. All unnecessary expenditures have stopped,†he intoned.
The Asawase Member of Parliament took the opportunity to thank President John Evans Atta for giving him the opportunity to serve in his government and added “I shall surely come back.â€
