‘Ban NDC and NPP’

A group calling itself Activist Forum for the New Ghana (AF -NG) has issued a statement condemning what it calls "political parties behaviour".

The statement, issued last weekend and signed by "Senior Activist" Stephen Asiedu said, "If political parties cannot develop the country for the benefit of Ghanaians like the youth, whose future lies in the hands of our current politicians, then they should leave it the way it is now for us to come and develop."

Obviously dissatisfied with the current tensions between the former administration, NPP and the current one, NDC, the statement said if the group had the power, "these two political parties (NPP and NDC) should be banned from contesting any future elections; or Ghanaians should vote a third party into power to enable these parties to go into hibernation.

This is because the political vindicator and blame game approach will not stop, making it difficult for Ghana to be developed."

The Forum says it "sees what is happening now as no news" because "the NPP did similar things to the NDC when they took power in 2001 and now the NDC is paying back in a worse manner more than anybody can think. What will happen to this country if the NPP should win power again the next time around?"

Giving dire warnings, the statement said "it is only six months into NDC rule; perhaps the worse is yet to happen. This country is not safe. It is sitting on a time bomb and with the slightest ignition this country will burn or be destroyed by the ongoing political backbiting and discrimination."

The youth, women and children, it said, "would be the ultimate loser", therefore, "it is about time civil society groups and other stakeholders talked to these political parties. In fact, the youth of Ghana will not vote for them again in the next election. We will also call on women and other pressure groups to vote against the NPP and NDC."

The youth can no longer entrust the destiny of Ghana into their hands. We are no longer interested in their political rhetoric’s, deceptiveness – we will do this for you, we will do that for you and all those empty promises. Politics is about serving the ordinary, the masses and the less endowed to the glory of God.

In very pleading words, the statement said, "All Ghana needs now, is simply peace and unity and the freedom to apply our creative abilities as the youth of Ghana to add value to the resources that God has given to us in such abundance…"

"The children of Ghana" the statement concludes, "are crying for their future, the future of the youth is in jeopardy…Ghanaians should wake up and take their destiny into their own hands."
