Posted by on July 2, 2009 at 5:16 pm in Local, PoliticsThe District Chief Executive (DCE) for Adansi North, Alhaji Abdul Lateef Majoub, has appealed to Assembly members to eschew political factionalism to enable the district to achieve it’s set objectives.
He said, by so doing the Assembly would be able to mobilize resources effectively towards the development of the district.
Mr. Majoub made the call when he was addressing assembly members at the first ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the Adansi North District Assembly at Fomena on Tuesday.
He said Health, Education, Agriculture, Roads, Water and Sanitation were some of his priority areas for the development of the district.
He said the Assembly’s ability to carry out its administrative functions effectively depended much on the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) and that there was the need for assembly members to give it the needed attention and prominence.
On education, the DCE indicated that his administration would collaborate with the District education office to ensure that the issue of falling standards of education was dealt with, and also seek the involvement of the District’s health workers to improve the health delivery system.
Alhaji Majoub noted that over 60 per cent of the district’s workforce are into agriculture in spite of the proliferation of petty trading, and that the Assembly would put proper mechanisms in place to enhance the sustenance of that sector and to ensure that poor road networks in the districts were improved upon.
On Water and Sanitation, he said the provision of potable water and sanitation remained an important responsibility of the Assembly and that his administration would address those issues as a matter of urgency.
