Mrs Zulleika Asamoah Boateng was charged with three counts for assaulting a security officer on duty, obstructing justice and falsely taken a seized passport from a security officer.
Mrs Asamoah Boateng, reportedly pleaded not guilty on all three counts.
She is also expected to deposit her passport to the Police to enable further investigations into the matter.
Reports say hundreds of NPP party functionaries including former ministers in the erstwhile Kufuor administration were at the Court to sympathize with Mrs Asamoah Boateng.
It will be recalled that on 17th June, 2009, Mrs. Asamoah Boateng was alleged to have thrown in rage and engaged operatives of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), in a scaffold over the seizure of her husband’s passport.
Mrs. Asamoah Boateng in the process managed to snatch her husband’s passport from the BNI officials and reportedly kept it in her dress.
Consequently, the Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa at the time publicly came out to condemn the behaviour of the former minister’s wife and hinted of prosecuting her in due course.
