The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Mrs Joyce Bamfold Addo, has referred the allegation made by Hon. Paul Collins Appiah, Member of Parliament for Asikuma Odobeng-Brakwa, that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament who voted in favor of the Ghana Telecom / Vodafone deal were paid $5,000 each to the Privileges Committee of the House for further investigations.

This was after Members of the Minority had staged a walk out following a heated debate on the matter on the floor.

However, Members of the Majority have welcomed the news saying, it would help the House ascertain the facts of the matter.

Media reports on Monday morning had quoted Mr Appiah Ofori as giving evidence to the Inter-ministerial Committee sitting on the review of the sale of Ghana Telecom to Vodafone.

It would be recalled that Vodafone acquired seventy percent (70) shares of Ghana Telecom last year despite stiff opposition from the then opposition National Democratic Congress party.
