LET GOD BE YOUR REFUGE

Permit me to use this medium to declare the source of my protection and security. Several years ago, when I became fully awakened and clearly understood how deceitful and destructive Satan could be, I knew for a fact that rejecting Satan and his antics would automatically marked me as target of attack and I was prepared to confront and overcome any situation by making Jesus Christ my shield, fortress and refuge.

The battle lines was drawn on a higher dimension but God has also been faithful to his promises concerning my life. I fear no evil for God is with me.

Many people who have been deceived, oppressed and enslaved by the devil often find it difficult to decamp fully for fear of being attacked, frustrated, and blackmailed. Listen to me friends, you can decamp from the kingdom of Satan, be liberated and listed amongst God’s family and your safety, security and protection against Satans influence, attacks, and manipulation would be certain. Isaiah 41 verse 8 has been my biblical reference point and I wish, my precious readers would also adopt this scriptural support by applying the promise of God in these verses to their lives and be assured that no harm shall touch you because you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour and separated yourself from the devil. We are not unaware of the devils schemes and antics, his mission is to kill, steal, and destroy, therefore we must put on the full armour of God in order to defeat him. God said “Do not fear I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish though you search for your enemies, you will not find them, those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all, for I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you do not fear I will help you. Isaiah 41 verse 8-13.

In these verses, God have declared his intension to protect his children from the claws of the enemies. He said, we should make him our refuge.

WHAT IS REFUGE

Refuge is a place of safety where a person could be protected from the attack of the enemies. In the olden days when there was tribal wars amongst various tribes, towns and villages, warriors often used caves in the rock as refuge against attacks from enemies. The wall of Jericho was also meant to serve as a refuge. However it is pertinent to note that human refuge or protection which emanates from man could be transient, ephemeral and unreliable because it can be destroyed by natural occurrence, hence as Christians, we need supernatural defense security and protection which no earthly powers or weapon could destroy. Only God can provide such security.

WHY SHOULD WE MAKE GOD OUR REFUGE

As Christians we need God supernatural ability and protection because, the battle of life cannot be fought and won by power and might, we are in the war front, Jesus Christ should be our general and Satan, is our principal enemy. Our physical strength, money personality, connection, cannot win the battle of life, only God almighty can grant us victory. The battle is not for us to fight, it is for the Lord. With Jesus Christ being our general, victory is certain. Consider the case of Daniel, David, Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego. These great men of God made God their refuge, they became victorious over the situations of their days. Daniel as the book of Daniel chapter 6 states was an Israelite who was taken into captivity in Babylon but later rose to prominent position. During the reign of King Darius, Daniel was appointed as one of the three administrators with the oversight responsibility of supervising 120 senior officers in King Darius cabinet. Out of jealousy and hatred for Daniel, other administrators and the council officials met and convinced the

King to promulgate a law which will ban everyone from worshipping God almighty but should worship the self made god of the King. Daniel being a devote prophet of God, who feared the Lord honoured and obeyed him, kept on praying to God almighty. He ignored the directive because he could not compromise his faith in God with any human made god.

For floating the decree of the King, Daniel was thrown into lions den to be devoured and killed as punishment for disobeying the King. Daniel made God his refuge, he trusted God and believed in his heart for divine victory and protection. Daniel was thrown into the lions den. Glory be to God, Jehovah was there to protect him. God shut the mouth of the lions, made them harmless so that they even became friendly to Daniel. What a wonderful God we serve.

“So the King gave the order and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions den. The King said to Daniel, may your God whom you serve continually rescue you. A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den and the King sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles so that Daniels situation might not be changed. Then the King returned to his palace and spent the night without eating and without any entertainment being brought to him and he could not sleep. At the first light of dawn, the King got up hurried to the lions den when he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice. Daniel servant of the living God, has your God been able to rescue you from the lions? Daniel answered, O King live forever, my God sent his angel and shut the mouth of the lions they have not hurt me because I was found innocent in his sight”.

Daniel 6 verse 16-21. Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego were also great servants of God who refused to bow unto lesser gods. They were thrown into the lake of fire but miraculous God rescued them so that not even a strand of their hair got burnt. Glory be to God.

What about young David who confronted Goliath the fearful Philistine. As young as David was, he trusted God for victory, he depended on God

for inspiration and made him shield fortress, and refuge. With just a catapult and the anointing from God, David was able to kill Goliath.

Are you confronted with situations which seems unsurmontable? Are you swimming in the ocean of life and there seems not to be a rescuer on sight? Are you surrounded by enemies and those who do not wish you well?

Are you afraid to face the challenges of life? Remember the promise of God. He said. “Do not be afraid, I am with you” make him your refuge today and enjoy divine security and protection.

GOD BLESS YOU
