Nana Akufo-Addo greets Muslims

In a statement signed by his aide, Mustapha Hamid, Nana Akufo-Addo said “we should use the occasion of the Ramadan fast to promote the virtues of peace, neighbourliness, fellow feeling and reconciliation in our nation.â€
He also urged Muslims and Ghanaians to pray for peace and development in the country and to strive to live the virtues that the Ramadan fast seeks to inculcate, so that at the end of one month of self-denial, “we would be certain that our nation would have moved one more step forward in its peaceful development journey,†the statement added.
Earlier, Nana Akufo-Addo made a presented food items and some amount of money to the two major leaders of the Muslim community in Ghana.
Presenting the items on behalf of Nana Akufo-Addo, Mustapha Hamid told the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu that Nana Akufo-Addo will continue to support the Muslim community in its quest for the moral, social and economic well being of its members.

“As the spiritual head of the Muslim community in Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo recognizes that you will have to carry the heavy burden of ensuring that not only the members of your household, but also other members of the Muslim community go through a stress free month of fasting†Mustapha told the National Chief Imam.
He said it was in recognition of this that Nana Akufo-Addo decided to make the donation so that the occasion of Ramadan does not become a source of worry for the National Chief Imam.
Mustapha Hamid made similar comments when he made another donation to the head of the Ahl-Sunna movement in Ghana, Sheikh Umar.
Mustapha told Sheikh Umar that Nana Akufo-Addo was making the donation in respect of God’s injunction to humankind to be considerate to neighbours.
“As a resident of Nima, Nana Akufo-Addo cannot afford to close his eyes to the fact that an important personality like you has several mouths to feed in this month of Ramadan,†Mustapha said.
“It is Akufo-Addo’s hope that his widow’s mite will contribute to alleviate the hardships of Ramadan.
Both leaders thanked Akufo-Addo for the gesture and prayed for God’s blessings for him.
