1. On Friday 11th September, the Western Regional Co-ordinator of NADMO, Padmore Kofi Yonkopa Arthur detailed two officers of his outfit to tidy up his office and pack his personal effects the next day (Saturday 12-09-09) pending the handing over of his office to a newly appointed co-ordinator on Monday 14-09-09.

2. The two officers who started their assignment around 3pm were joined by me [ the Regional co-ordinator ]one hour later.

3. It is important to note that there is neither a computer nor television in my office for which reason it was impossible for me to have attempted removing them from the office.

4. The personal effects in my office are Books and a Table-top fridge.

5. Barely 10 minutes after my arrival to my office, four men made up of two armed policemen and two others who introduced themselves as BNI officers stormed the office to stop the exercise under the instructions of the Deputy Western Regional Minister- Ms Betty Bosomtwi-Sam. The Deputy Regional Minister showed up in per

son shortly and ordered the locking up of the office, snatched and seized the keys to my office which are still in her custody. 6. It later turned out that the two men by name IKE and MAWULI who were sent by Deputy Regional Minister and introduced themselves as BNI officers were NDC goons who were on the campaign team of the Deputy Regional Minister during the last elections.

7. On Monday 14-09-09 I entered my office with a spare key which was in the custody of one of secretaries Of the Western Regional NADMO Office.

8. Around 4:30pm on Monday 14/09/09 when a letter signed by the National Coordinator of NADMO directing me to hand over my office to the new officer was faxed to me I quickly complied and took away my personal effects of books and one table-top fridge.

A report has been made to the BNI to take the appropriate action against the impostors to redeem its image especially when the BNI institution is made up of very decent and respectable personalities.

The point must also be clearly stated for the public to be educated that; NADMO is a well established public institution which keeps proper records of its assets and liabilities for which reason no one person be he boss or subordinate can remove assets of the organization and just get away with it. The prudency of record keeping will not and does not allow that.

It will only take someone who doesn’t understand the preparation and processes of handing over of a public office to act in the manner that was exhibited by the Deputy Western Regional Minister and her imposters on Saturday 12/09/09.

The Deputy Regional, Western Minister’s assertion on KYZZ FM, a local Radio station that every Government worker must take permission before entering his or her office on weekends is to say the least laughable, inaccurate and smacks of her lack of appreciation of how the public service works. Does she take permission before entering her present office?

To be modest, the actions of the Deputy Western Regional Minister and her team were unwarranted, unnecessary and unbecoming of her high office, and must not be repeated anywhere in Ghana to dent the great democratic governance credentials our dear nation has enviably obtained internationally.
