Nana Ohene Ntow in trouble

Nana Ohene Ntow has been accused of living in a government bungalow for the past eight years without authorization. Besides, he is alleged to have also turned the residence into a small scale “shito fried rice restaurant”, where his wife did brisk business.
As a result, Dr. Hannah Bissiw, Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, says government has resolved to surcharge him for GHC 1,000 a month, which implies that the former would have to pay approximately GHC 96,000.
Speaking on Citi Fm, an Accra based radio station, Ms. Bissiw disclosed that detailed measures have been put in place to ensure Ohene Ntow refund the money to government and, more importantly, face prosecution if he fails to explain reasons why he opted to live in a government bungalow when he perfectly knew that he was not a government official at the time.
“If he does not explain to us why he moved from his place of residence to the bungalow then we would not also hesitate to haul him to court because he was not a government official neither was he asked by anybody to go and occupy the bungalow,” says Hon. Bissiw.
“So government is waiting for his formal explanation and if that does not go down well appropriate action would be taken in due course,” she bluntly stated
According to her, the conduct of the Ohene Ntow is criminal hence the decision to make him face procedural action.
It was in this direction that she reiterated that the NDC government’s commitment to eliminate corruption to it barest minimum and ensure what she described as ‘maximum responsibility’ from government officials.
The ministry would unfold it sleeves and work assiduously to fish out people who illegally acquired properties or stayed in government properties to properly account to the state, she said.
She took the opportunity to urge people, who are wrongly occupying state bungalows, vacate it to avoid embarrasment.
However, Nana Ohene Ntow when called upon for his reaction said “I will come out at the appropriate time but for now I do not have anything to say.”
