Two people died in an armed robbery attack and several others sustained various degrees of injuries last Monday at about 1:45 p.m., at Lashibi in the Tema metropolis of the Greater Accra Region.

Information indicated that the armed men attacked a car containing money which belonged to the HFC Bank at a filling station at Lashibi.

TODAY gathered that apart from the driver of the car, there was a police officer escorting the cashier of the bank to go and take monies from filling stations in and around Tema, Ashaiman and Kakemono.

At the filling station at Lashibi, the unidentified armed men crossed the HFC car with theirs; they first shot the police officer in the neck and then the cashier but the driver of the HFC car also managed to escape.

According to a Tro-tro driver, who was then buying fuel at the filling station, when he saw the operation, he tried to stop them with his car but to no avail.

The armed men opened fire on the driver and the passengers killing one and injuring several others and made away with all the money that had been collected.

The victims were rushed to the hospital but on arrival, the police officer whose name was given as Nkrumah Amos was pronounced dead.

Nkrumah Amos is a police officer who is with the Buffalo Unit of the Tema Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service.

Meanwhile, investigations are underway to ensure that the culprits are apprehended and brought to book.
