After the exposé on the inhumane treatments meted out to the students of Ghana National College Senior High School by their Headmaster, Mr Robert Koomson-Barnes, reports reaching the paper show that the final year science student who was slapped and forced to drink fly-infested porridge has since then had no peace on campus.
Sources close to the school say that the boy is often ordered to report at the headmaster’s office, even during class hours.
According to some students, the boy is so frequently called to the administration block that her misses most of his lessons.
Many of the students who confided in our Central Regional Chief Bureau disclosed that the student (referring to the victim) goes to sit and wait for the Headmaster for no apparent reason, describing it as a waste of time since he is in his final year.
The students have therefore appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and other stakeholders in education to step in on the issue to enable the boy have his peace of mind to study for his final examination.
The students told TODAY that the Headmaster has introduced a new policy compelling anyone who does not finish his or her meal in the dining hall to pay a fine of GH¢ 15 or face dismissal.
Some of the students wondered whether the money will go into the coffers of the school or into the pocket of the Headmaster.
The paper also learned that some retired educationists have visited the school are investigating the issue.
Meanwhile, Mr Koomson-Barnes is reported to have directed his madness at the cooks in the school, threatening to sack some of them for no reason.
In an interview with TODAY, some of the cooks complained bitterly about the mistreatment by the Headmaster.
They revealed that although the school has a Matron, the Headmaster goes to the market to purchase food items for the school.
The cooks expressed concern about the way that most of the food is purchased outside, saying that they sit idle as they only have to serve food to the students.
“He even buys kenkey from outside; we have a lot of maize rotting in the kitchen, but this man always buys kenkey outside for the students. Even though we are supposed to cook for the children, the Headmaster buys food outside so we don’t know what we are doing here,” the cooks lamented.
The paper discovered that some of the staff are also bitter about some actions of the Headmaster as he is reported to have also taken over the duties of some of them including the domestic Bursar and Accountant.
TODAY’s investigations proved that the Headmaster has been bragging in the school that nobody can do anything to him despite the conditions he is leading the students and staff into.
