Alhaji Megah, National Chairman of the Nasara Club of Zongo Communities of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has bemoaned what he describes as the growing trend of factions and camps in the NPP.
According to him, this development affects the progress of the party and urged that the formation of camps and factions in the NPP should stop.
“You would always hear of Nana Akufo-Addo camp, Alan Kyeremanten camp—this is not good at all. The earlier we deal with it, the better it would be for all of us,” indicated Alhaji Megah.
The National Chairman of the Nasara Club of Zongo Communities was speaking in an exclusive interview with TODAY in Accra.
He underscored the need for the national executives of the party to address the issue once and for all.
“We don’t have to sit idle for these factions to eat us up because we need unity in order to recapture power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) come 2012,” said Alhaji Megah.
He pointed out that all NPP members could not become presidents at the same time, stressing that only one person can become a president.
“So my brother what I am saying is that, this faction here and there, is not healthy at all for our party and it is high time we stopped it,” he stressed.
He said the chances of the NPP recapturing power in 2012 depended on how unified the party would be in 2012.
He urged NPP loyalists and members to work very hard as the party gets ready for its national executive congress in December to maintain and whip up the winning spirit.
