A herald of development
Posted by on November 28, 2009 at 1:27 pm in EditorialPLANS to construct an airport in the Volta Region by 2012 have been formally announced.
THE statement, which was made at the Volta Trade and Investment Fair in Ho, revealed the airport as one aspect of plans being put into place for the development of the Volta Region both for tourism and trade.
NOT only will the Region be opened to air traffic, but the road network will also be expanded at an accelerated rate in order to open up the Region.
THESE actions, among others, should encourage trade and investment in the Region, feeding and developing both local and national economy.
ALL of this is promising, not only for the Volta Region, but also for the entire country.
AS some parts of Ghana are opened up and consciously cater to development, it will encourage the development of the other regions, as well.
EVEN though the focus right now is on the Volta Region’s upcoming renovations, they will serve as yet another set of examples of how to responsibly cultivate natural resources.
ALTHOUGH there is a pressing need to open up various parts of the country to investment and tourism, close attention should also be paid to preserving the integrity of the local environment and traditions.
THE upcoming development of the Volta Region, though, should help to raise awareness of the importance of tourism, trade and investment throughout the country, hopefully with an eye on conserving the limited resources available.
