Ghanaian great Abedi Pele Ayew would like to see his sons play at the World Cup in South Africa for the Black Stars.
His sons, Andre and Ibrahim, were part of a very young Ghanaian team that finished runners up at the just concluded African Nations Cup in Angola and their father hopes that now they can continue the trend and play in the summer.
“I want to see them in the World Cup but I want to see them have a great career, having what all great footballers have achieved. If they are able to make it to the World Cup then it is going to be a great moment,” Pele told Goal.com in Abuja on Friday.
The former Marseille star was captain of the last Ghanaian team to get to the finals of the African Nations Cup in 1992 before the feat was achieved by this present team in January. Andre, 20, who plays for AC Arles Avignon, on loan from Marseille, and Ibrahim, 24, of Zamalek, played big parts in the run to the final where they lost to Egypt 1-0.
“They did very well at the African Cup and they’ve been playing well in the national team but they’re my children and I don’t like talking about them very much.
“I just want them to have their privacy and play like they know how to. I like to just watch and keep quiet,” he concluded.
