NGO presents 109 assorted text books to UDS

GNA – A Non Governmental Organisation known as the T.D.Y. HIV/AIDS Foundation on Wednesday presented 109 assorted text books to the Faculty of Integrated Development Studies of the University for Development Studies (UDS) at the Wa Campus.
   Mr Trenchard D. Yourri, President of the Foundation, who presented the books, noted that his organisation believed the books would be relevant to the University’s programmes.
   He said the Foundation expects the University to study the books and to present a proposal which would be forwarded to their (Foundation) partners for more supply of such books to UDS.
   Mr Yourri, a retired banker, a management consultant and a poverty reduction and job creation practitioner, said most of the books touch on subjects such as agriculture and water management.
   He said one of the books titled; "Rain Water Harvesting for Domestic Use" would be beneficial to the UDS because of the water problem it faces and asked the University to put forward the proposal to make such books available as soon as possible.
   Dr Kanton Osman, Head of the Department of Environment and Resource Studies at the University thanked T.D.Y. Foundation for the gesture and noted that the books were indeed relevant to some of their courses especially Water and Resource Management.
   He said the books would help both lecturers and students in the areas of teaching and carrying out research, adding that they would be made available at the University’s library so that students could have access to them anytime.
   Farther Cletus Segtub, Assistant Registrar of the University, commended Mr Yourri for having the development of the University at heart and said he believed the books would be of immense benefit.
   He promised that they would immediately come out with a proposal to enable them source for funding to acquire more copies of the books.
