NDC will loose cases even with a new A-G

The New Patriotic Party (NPP), Member of Parliament (MP) for Aburi-Nsawam in the Eastern Region and former Deputy Sports Minister, Hon. O.B Amoah, has said that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government could decide to bring down an Attorney-General from abroad to replace Betty Mould-Iddrisu, but they would still lose cases against the previous NPP government if they do not have facts.

According to him, the Attorney-General could not win cases without facts, so the government should not put pressure on her to prosecute past government officials of the NPP administration, or reshuffle her due to her alleged inefficiency.

He said, the Attorney-General was not working alone. She had advisors and a team she worked with and so she receives advice from so many different angels before acting on a particular case.

Speaking in an interview with Adom FM, the former sports minister emphasized that her team would not allow her to prosecute persons they had no evidence against.

He added that whether Betty Mould-Iddrisu was at post or not, the facts of a case are the ultimate.
“The court takes the final decision,” he stated.

However, he remarked that the Attorney-General had initially made a big mistake during the campaign period by describing the courts during the NPP regime as “Kangaroo Courts.”

I wouldn’t stand on such a platform to make a statement of that sort without any facts,” he said, apparently referring to the instance where he felt because she (Betty Mould-Iddrisu) was allegedly lobbying for a position she made such a statement.
He added that, it was an internal party matter that needed to be resolved by the party, as a result of their campaign promises.

Hon. O.B. Amoah based his argument on the fact that some NDC members have complained that President Mills should immediately reshuffle Betty Mould Iddrisu because of her inability to prosecute past corrupt NPP officials.
