Chief Inspector Aryokor of the Tema police has advised the general public, especially those who join commercial vehicles to their various destinations, to be watchful of new tactics employed by pick-pockets and armed robbers.

“Armed robbers have adopted new skills of stealing from the public, especially those that join commercial vehicles. They pretend as if they are passengers, but only board vehicles to steal people,” disclosed Chief Inspector Aryokor.

According to him, armed robbers of late dress and appear very good unlike the past years when they appeared very dirty and could easily be spotted.

“So when he or she approaches you in a commercial vehicle, you may think he or she cannot under any circumstance steal from you,” stated Chief Inspector Aryokor.

Chief Inspector Aryokor who was speaking on Adom Fm, an Accra-based radio station, advised all passengers and the general public to open their eyes wide and monitor those who sit beside and behind them.

“Yes! They are everywhere and you will often see them well dressed with passengers searching for cars to board as well,” he noted.

He warned the public to be extra careful with their handbags, wallets and pockets, especially when they are about to join queues to wait for commercial vehicles to their destinations.

He also warned private motorists who ply the Spintex road to be extra careful.

“These armed robbers target residential areas because they believe that is where they would find all the latest and luxurious cars in town,” explained Chief Inspector Aryokor.

“I am therefore advising all Ghanaians to be watchful of these new tactics adopted by armed robbers to avoid losing their belongings,” he charged.
