Confusion before GTV News

All is not well within the corridors of the country’s premier television station, Ghana Television (GTV), as snippets of information picked up by PEACEFMONLINE sources say staff of that department are threatening to embark on a strike action following an alleged interference by the Deputy Director-General of the station, Mr. Kwabena Sarpong-Anane.
The said interference, according to our sources, led to the Midday news bulletin for Sunday, March 21, 2010, being delayed for well over twenty five (25) minutes.
Abigail Larbi; a radio presenter with Uniq Radio, (formerly Radio Ghana) was later made to read the news instead of Barbara Gaisie, the regular TV news anchor for today.
Sources say not even the presence of the large number of security personnel drawn from the Ghana Police Service could deter members of the GTV newsroom from carrying out their “aluta”.
The newsroom staff contend that the reasons adduced by the Deputy Director-General in sidelining Barbara Gaisie are “flimsy and cannot be justified by any serious minded person.”
Peacefmonline sources say if the unfolding events are made to continue and not curtailed, it is very likely that regular newscasters would be sidelined for unknown ones.
