Kufour Storms Court To Solidarise With His Men

Former President John Agyekum Kufour has stormed the Accra Fast Track High Court to solidarise with four of his key ex Ministers who have been hauled before court to answer questions on some criminal charges on their roles in the liquidation of the Ghana International Airlines.
Dr. Akoto Osei, Dr Richard Anane, Former Minister of Roads and Transport, Former Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani and other top former officials, who served under the Kufour administration have been charged of conspiracy to and willfully causing financial loss to the state as well as conspiracy to steal and stealing.
Dr Anane has been charged for defrauding the state of Ghana by false pretences contrary to section 131 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29). He reportedly falsely represented to cabinet on September 9, 2004 that GIA-USA-LLC made up of World Transport Group and Sentry had the capacity to join government in creating a new airline as a result of which by false representation he got cabinet approval to liquidate Ghana Airways.
Dr Akoto Osei is also charged with causing financial loss to the state by guaranteeing or causing SSNIT to release USD$15,000,000.00 to GIAL without securing the loan.
