Gospel music, a highly emotional evangelical vocal music that originated among African American Christians in southern United States which made strong influence in the development of soul music has taken centre stage in the Ghanaian music industry.

Ghanaians over the past years have given prominence to what has now become known as Christian music or gospel music.
Beyond all reasonable doubts, the Ghanaian gospel music scene has given birth to hundreds of celebrated songwriters and musicians for decades now.
The industry can boast of gospel music legends and icons that include Esther Nyamekye, Mary Ghansah, Tagoe Sisters, YABS, Yaw Sarpong, Helena Rabbles, Getty and Friends, Ola Williams, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Hannah Marfo, Bernice Offei, Georgia Agyei, Cindy Thompson, Maame Justine, Pastor Joe Beecham, Rev. Yawson, the Joyful Way Incorporated and a host of others.
These are some of the big-wigs in the industry, who through messages in their songs and music, have touched, impacted and encouraged the lives of millions of people who find themselves in difficult situations.
Thank God the industry continues to grow and is still producing more gospel musicians to touch more lost lives.
A new gospel musician on the bloc who is also ready and set to touch lost lives, bring hope to the downhearted and brokenhearted, put smiles back on the faces of the sick and disappointed, restore hope for the poor is none other than Rev. Prophet Collins Boampong a.k.a ‘Fire Prophet,’ the General Overseer and Presiding Bishop of the Nazareth Fire Salvation Ministry at Darkuman Nyamekye in Accra.
He is presently working on his maiden album titled ‘Ka Asem no’ to wit ‘Preach the Word or Say the Word,’ which is currently at the master stage of production.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Today, the Fire Prophet revealed that since his young days he had been yearning to sing to touch lives and make positive impacts on the lives of people.
“It has always been my burning desire to sing to the glory of God and touch lives of people worldwide.
…As a prophet of God who minister to a very young dynamic and emerging church, I have chosen to add music ministry because I feel God has a purpose for my life that needs to be fulfilled.
I have a great feeling that God wants to use me to reach out and minister to people all over the world and I think that is what has motivated me to come out with this album,” the Fire Prophet told Entertainment Today.
Asked whether he was veering into gospel music for the sake of fame and money, he indicated that he has come into the music industry to minister to lost souls, touch the deeply hurt and make positive impacts in their lives through Christ Jesus.
“Satan, then angel Lucifer in heaven through songs won for himself honour and recognition which enabled him to stand tall among all the angels in heaven. Within a short while, he was made the head of all the angels in heaven. He only lost that position in heaven because of pride and envy.
…This shows that God adores and heeds to songs that promotes the expansion of his kingdom. I will tell you in plain language that I am not coming into the industry because I want to be famous or wealthy to live luxurious life like some pastors are doing. All that I want to achieve is to see people getting blessed and encouraged through my songs,” the Fire Prophet emphasised.
Touching on his career as a prophet, he recounted that he was into mobile phone sales and repairs and was also operating other kinds of businesses but saw that those business activities were not his calling.
“One day, God ministered and told me in a dream that he wanted to use me to bless and save lost souls and lives. In that dream an image of Jesus Christ appeared and I was moved by that vision to do the work of God. I knew God was telling me at that point in time that ‘my son unless you do my work any business you do on this earth will never be successful,” he disclosed.
He revealed that he left his job and came into full time Christian ministry in the year 2004 and has since managed the Nazareth Fire Salvation Ministry till date.
“I have a message for the world so I have arranged these songs such that people can easily get the message I am sending to them,” he maintained.
He advised upcoming gospel musicians to desist from putting premium on money and concentrate on saving and winning souls.
He also urged pastors to desist from all manner of immoral acts that are capable of destroying their relationships with God.
The fire prophet explained that he has the full support of his family and friends as well as the church congregants in this music career.
The ‘Ka Asem No’ album comes with 8 tracks which include life touching songs like ‘Obonsam Besu Maa maa,’ ‘Yesu Tumi Ade Nyinaa Ye’ and others.
The fire prophet is currently looking for a producer to help him produce this maiden album within the shortest possible time.
