‘NPP Lacks Internationally Recognised Politicians’
Posted by on May 5, 2010 at 10:08 am in PoliticsThe General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, a.k.a General Mosquito, has ridiculed the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying “they don’t have leaders who are internationally recognised and experienced in politics, that is why they are making noise about the donation of $40,000 from the Chinese Communist Party.”
According to General Mosquito, it is about time the NPP learnt how to elect-internationally recognised and effective leaders, who are experienced and have links to gain support to build their party and make the democratic dispensation of the country strong and effective.
He was speaking at a ceremony organised by the Brong-Ahafo Regional executive of the NDC, together with the Regional Minister, Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, and his Deputy, Eric Opoku, in Sunyani recently.
The ceremony was to honour four distinguished industrious members of the NDC, who gallantly toiled to bring back the party to power at both the national and regional levels, to serve as a motivation to others, particularly the youth, to be dedicated and hardworking in serving the party.
General Mosquito was among those honoured by the Regional NDC Secretariat, which included Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister for Lands and Forestry, Mr. Yaw Gyan-Boateng, National Organiser of the NDC and Madam Agnes Adomah, former Deputy National Women’s Organiser.
General Mosquito, who spoke on behalf of the other three, noted that it was a shame for the NPP to have commented on their donation. “How can people, who claim to be elites, and know everything make unnecessary noise about technical support to political party by foreign donors, after they themselves had enjoyed and continue to enjoy similar supports from others.”
It would be recalled that the NPP General Secretary, John Owusu Afriyie, a.k.a Sir John, demanded the prosecution of the NDC Executive for receiving a donation of $40 ,000 from the Chinese Communist Party. The NDC General Secretary said it was the good governance and policies of the NDC that attracted the attention of the Chinese Communist Party to provide technical support, by donating office equipment such as computers and printers, to effectively manage their activities .
“They are dazed about the defeat in the 2008 elections, and have resorted to unsubstantiated allegations, deceit, and irrelevant attacks, in fact, they’ve been exposed of their incompetence, and Ghanaians are not taking them serious, that is why,” he said.
He, however, commended the regional executive of the NDC, and the Regional Minister and his Deputy, for the honour done them, as he called other members of the party to have faith, and rally strongly behind the NDC government, led by Prof. Mills.
