The Brong Ahafo Regional Territorial chairperson of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Ministers Wives Association, Mrs Regina Duku, has called on wives of pastors to help check the current trend of indecent dressing among women, especially Christian ladies.
Mrs Duku said “wives of reverend ministers and young ladies in our church must shun dresses which expose their breasts and stomachs to protect their image in the society”.
She charged them to live exemplarily lives worthy of emulation since young ladies look up to them.
She reminded them that as first ladies of their congregations, the church would look up to them at all times and must therefore be punctual at all church activities.
Mrs Duku was addressing the closing ceremony of the 2010 conference of ministers’ wives in Sunyani.
The periodic conference was attended by wives of ministers of the church in the region.
Mrs Duku charged leaders to empower women to enable them make meaningful contribution to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
“Any community that neglects their women will never progress so policy makers should know how to handle women in decision-making processes to help solve their needs as helpers in the society,” she said.
According to her, CAC believes that by teaching women their proper roles in the church, they would help lessen the burden of their husbands whiles members of the congregation can use them as first point of call in times of trouble.
She therefore advised wives of pastors to avoid behaviours that would dent their image in the society.
Mrs Duku further charged wives to be submissive to their husbands; show adequate care for children and their families; be peaceful and loving; and be prayerful behind their husband’s ministries.
Again, she asked women to teach young girls in the church God’s laws, guide them through fasting and prayers, counsel and offer them help, pay them regular visits and help solve their problems.
Against all these, Mrs Duku advised pastors’ wives not to demand any favour from members of the congregation.
She also advised them to avoid making unnecessary noise, especially during church services.
