CPP takes steps to strengthen party
Posted by on May 31, 2010 at 10:43 am in Other Top Stories, PoliticsThe Central Region branch of the CPP met on Friday, May 28 at Mankessim to review progress towards the complete reorganisation of the party in the region following the less than expected results of the 2008 election.
The meeting was chaired by Mr Edu Ansah the Regional Chairman of the party and attended by the chairmen of the 19 constituencies and the regional executives.
The review of the work done thus far showed that some constituencies had completed their polling station work and were waiting for verification from the regional executives.
The regional executives plan to move around to do this verification.
Two constituencies have problems of absentee chairmen which had hindered organisation work and a workaround solution has been found.
The extension of the target date for completion of polling station work was to allow 5 constituencies with problems to catch up to the rest.
The meeting agreed that without good parliamentary candidates who are also resourceful, the party will not get any good results in 2012.
Therefore, a call was made for redoubling efforts to encourage those interested in going to Parliament to step up so that they can be marketed early enough to work with the polling station executives and win votes for the party in 2012.
The executives agreed that there was a lot of opportunity for the CPP given the dismal performance of the Mills administration in areas such as premix distribution, job creation, unkept promises and general hopelessness that has come as a result of the slow and lukewarm performance of President Mills.
They resolved to prevent the NDC from commandeering the image of Kwame Nkrumah.
Dr Nduom, who was present at the meeting, encouraged the executives to sacrifice a little to complete the organisation work and win more members for the party.
He tasked them to find PNC members in the region and work with them to build a united front for 2012 and beyond.
The executives called for other leading members of the party and the national executives to come to the region to encourage and motivate the members to work harder towards winning the 2012 election.
