Thoughts Of a Mysterious Man with Ebow Duncan: Political Insults

Politics must definitely be a very dirty enterprise. Otherwise how could, plain confused gold diggers dare to pour insults on Professor John Evans Atta Mills, a decent citizen by any standards.

Here, I am not interested in the fact that he is President of the Republic of Ghana because the Presidency can be occupied by less dignified people.

The point being made her is simply this. Professor Evans Atta Mills has been around for a very long time as a sports administrator, law lecturer, public servant, Vice President and now President.

So far, he has not been accused of thievery or any indecent act which would warrant the pouring of insults and invectives on him, and yet all kinds of persons continue to insult him on a daily basis. The other day, he was being capered to a dog and only last week somebody in Kumasi described him as a Chimpanzee.

The police promptly arrest this “Chimpanzee man” but good old Atta asked for his freedom.

What is shocking is that the “Chimpanzee man” did not even show remorse. The real problem is that these insults do not come only from the lowly placed in our political parties. Sometimes it is people at the very top who jump on public platforms to heap insults on their opponents.

The political arena because it is glamorous and they can fill their pockets. Their survival in this arena is largely dependent on stirring up passions by insulting each other, playing Akyem against Asante or Ewe against Asante.

These insulting politicians are extremely dangerous and they must be prevented from getting anywhere near power.
