Akufo-Addo Steals Alan’s Campaign Message

The camp of John Kwodwo Alan Kyeremanten, the man popularly known as Alan Cash, is seething with rage over what some of them are describing as a blatant stealing of their candidate’s campaign message by Mr. Akufo Addo.

Though sources within the Alan camp say that they are not unduly worried over Mr. Akufo Addo’s stealing of their campaign message, one highly placed source told this paper that, “we however feel elated that our major opponents in this contest are now vindicating the position that our candidate (Alan) has been arguing all along.”

According to sources within the Alan camp, the recent apparent backtracking of Mr. Akufo-Addo with regards to comments that he has been reported to have been making about how campaign resources did not get down to the party footsoldiers during the 2008 elections is a clear admission by the Akufo-Addo camp that their campaign strategy for the 2008 elections did not work.

“Alan knew that this strategy was never going to work, that is why as far back as 2007 when he was campaigning for the flagbearership he made it a point that his campaign strategy would operated by polling station executives of the party, who are the grassroot operatives of the party. Indeed, this message is what Alan is still selling to the party,” a highly placed source told this paper.

“Initially,” our source continued, “our opponents tried to use this message against us by throwing out false propaganda that Alan does not want to work with constituency and regional executives of the party. Of course, Alan has never said that he would not work with constituency and regional executives, all that he has been constantly saying is that the polling station executives, the people who are the grassroot operatives of the party, must be the ones to operationlise the campaign so that the campaign would be grassroot based.

“After going round the country and having heard from party footsoldier, our major opponents are now revising their stand and they are now promising to do the very thing that they said Alan was wrong to have proposed. What irony,” the source quipped.

Asked whether the Alan camp feels threatened by Akufo-Addo’s apparent stealing of their campaign message, the source replied, “rather than feeling threatened, we are emboldened by this because it vindicates our position. Look, between a person who invented a strategy and person who is reluctantly copying that strategy who do you think better understands the strategy and can operationalise it effectively to achieve the desired goal? Of course, it is the one who invented the strategy, not the one who is a reluctant convert,” the source stated.

“Truth be told, Akufo-Addo and his people do not believe in strategy of letting polling station executives run their campaign. I believe that they (the Akufo-Addo camp) are now saying these things because they know that Alan is winning the support of the polling station executives. I can bet my last cedi that in the unlikely event that Akufo-Addo becomes the flagbearer of our party again, they would once again marginalize the footsoldiers and the NPP would lose again,” another source predicted.

Meanwhile deep throat sources close to the Akufo-Addo camp have hinted that Akufo-Addo’s new campaign message is causing Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku a lot of sleepless nights as he sees it as an attack on his performance as the man in-charge of resource allocation during the 2008 elections.

Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku was said to have expressed grave reservations about this message to Akufo-Addo, pointing out especially that he feels that his performance during the 2008 elections is being questioned with such a message.

But indications are that Akufo-Addo, apparently feeling his connection with the polling station executives breaking, is not paying any heed to the concerns of Apraku.
