1st National goes to Damang

First National Savings and Loans (FNSL), one of the fastest growing banks in the country, has broken new grounds by becoming the first bank to have a branch in Damang in the Western Region.
The bank, which started its operations in 2006, currently boasts of 30 branches across the ten regions of the country.
The opening of the Damang branch of FNSL came off last Tuesday, July, 27, 2010 and was attended by the Damanghene, Nana Amoakwa III, workers of the Tarkwa Gold Mines and G4S, a private security company.
At a short and colourful ceremony to outdoor the bank in Damang, the General Manager of FNSL, Mr. Charles Otoo, in a welcome address said through good management practices, policies and hard work, FNSL has become truly a people centered bank that is found in all the ten regions of the country.
“Today another branch has been opened in Damang. First National is unique and will bring to the people of Damang all the products that the universal banks can boast of,” noted Mr. Otoo.
Highlighting some of the products, Mr. Otoo indicated that the bank runs the following accounts: current accounts, savings accounts, Wo Daakye accounts and the Susu and micro-finance accounts.
According to the General Manager, the bank has made positive impacts on the lives of people wherever it operates.
He assured the inhabitants of Damang that the bank will help improve their lives.
“We go to areas that other banks dread to go, and we always tell people that if we go to such places we make sure that we identify with the people and prosper with them, Mr Otoo expressed.
He therefore urged the Damang community to patronize the bank’s services and help the bank to grow and improve their lot.
For his part the Chief of Damang, Nana Amoakwao III, who was the chairman for the occasion, was very grateful to management and staff of FNSL for conceiving the idea of establishing a branch in his community.
“The Damang branch of FNSL will incalculate into Damang natives the habit and essence of savings and also help create jobs in the community,” the chief of Damang noted.
In the estimation of the Damanghene, by having FNSL in Damang which happens to be the only bank in the community, Damang will gain more recognition and help expand economic activities.
Nana Amoakwao used the occasion to call on his community members to patronize the bank’s services and help it to grow.
In a brief remark, the branch Manager of Tarkwa FNSL, Mr Francis Antwi Boateng, disclosed that by the end of August a new branch will be opened in Bogoso.
He added that the bank also runs services such as Western Union and has introduced a new product – Sika Plus – a domestic money transfer service which allows Ghanaians to transfer money to relatives in every part of the country.
According to him, the bank will next year January start operating the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) facilities and the first place to begin with will be the Damang branch.
