Less than a week after the Convention People’s Party (CPP), released a 15-member Shadow Cabinet chaired by Mr. Ladi Nylander, to offer policy alternatives and play its opposition watch-dog role in the governance of the country, a leading member of the party, has lashed out at the decision to form a Shadow Cabinet.

Dr. Vladimir Antwi Danso of the Legon Centre for International Affairs (LECIA), believes it is “unnecessary and inessential”

Speaking in an interview on PeaceFM News, Dr. Antwi Danso pointed out that this is not the first time the party has come out with a list of this nature, adding that; “this is not the most important thing to do now because we have a Unity Talk ongoing and we cannot mix it up with shadow ministers when we have not yet been voted for. We don’t need that to build the CPP,” he said.

According to him, the CPP needs to concentrate on the coalition with PNC to ensure a total unity since the shadow ministers will not help to have a united party neither.

“…we should rather concentrate on the proposed merger with the People’s National Convention, and to reactivate the CPP’s grassroots,” Dr. Antwi Danso added.

The 15-member CPP’s shadow cabinet, amongst other things is to stop the NDC / NPP duopoly in their next campaign. The membership comprise: Mr. Ladi Nylander – Leader and Chairman, Dr. Abu Sakara – Agriculture, Mr. Eric Benyarko – Environment, Science, Technology & Communications, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom – Finance and Economic Planning, Mr. Henry Lartey – Trade and Industry, Mr. George Oposika Aggudey – Interior, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa – Health, Education, Youth and Sports, Hon. Samia Nkrumah – Parliamentary affairs, Mr.Bright Akwetey – Attorney General and Justice.

Other members of the Shadow Cabinet include, Wing Commander Pat Sorgbordjor (rtd)- Defence and National Security, Dr. Adolf Lutterrodt – Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr. R.O. Frimpong-Manso – Local Government, Mrs. Susan Adu-Amankwah – Employment and Social Welfare, Mr. Felix Amoah – Works, Housing, Water and Roads, and Mr. Kwame Jantuah – Energy, Mines, Lands and Forestry.
