Alan rubbishes media reports
Posted by on August 31, 2010 at 5:13 pm in Other Top StoriesMr. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, former Chief of Campaign Staff for Alan Kyerematen, has rubbished media reports that the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful is considering plans of leading a new political party, ostensibly to rival the opposition NPP.
An Investigative Desk Report of the “Daily Dispatch” newspaper on Tuesday, August 31st, pointed out that much as the formation of this new political party, the United Front Party (UFP), is not news; its initial target makes news, adding that the main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should be worried for two main reasons.
According to the “Daily Dispatch” newspaper, “the first is that the organizers of the new party, UFP, have been targeting members of the NPP, who openly supported the candidature of Mr. Alan Kyerematen during the just ended NPP elections to elect its 2012 flagbearer. The second is that the heartbeat of the UFP is in Kumasi, the capital of the NPP’s ‘Political World Bank’, the Ashanti Region.”
Peacefmonline is reliably informed that a group of about sixteen people, said to be linked to the twice-failed flag-bearer aspirant, held consultations in Kumasi with the view to forming the United Front Party. The 16 include two unnamed sitting MPs, a former MP and a number of key officers who lost their bid to be elected executives at the recent congress in Kumasi.
In an interview with Mr. Ben Ephson, Editor of the “Daily Dispatch” on PeaceFM’s “Kokrokoo”, he shared the same sentiments with other political analysts who believe that given the nature of the UFP’s operations, Mr. Kyerematen, popularly known as Alan Cash, should come out to disassociate himself from the party.
He argues that it would be a politically incorrect decision and even suicidal should Mr. Kyerematen breakaway from the NPP and form a new political party.
