TOR to resume work
Posted by on August 31, 2010 at 5:11 pm in Business, Other Business StoriesNormal supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is expected to resume by the end of this week.
Acute shortage of the product has hit parts of the country in the past few weeks resulting in long queues of vehicles and cylinders at most fuel stations across the country.
The Public Relations Officer of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Aba Lokko told Citi Business, TOR is working within time to avert the situation. She disclosed that the refinery has currently increased supply of the product and said they are optimistic that normal supply will resume by the weekend.
TOR on the average supplies about 500 metric tons of LPG a day onto the market, but it has increased this to one thousand to address the short fall.
According to Abba Lokko, repair works on a pipeline that conveys gas from the Tema Port forced the suspension of supply. It is however hopeful that the increase in supply as well as working beyond scheduled hours will address the situation.
