It is official! The President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, will on Saturday August 4, 2010 at the grand durbar of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye Festival announce the commencement of a multi-national company in the Central Region.

The brand new factory, which is expected to employ a large number of people, will produce consumable products.
So far two sites are in the running for the factory – Komenda or the Kakum area, Today’s checks have revealed.
Government sources, however, whispered to the paper that the deal was brokered when President Mills travelled to the United States for holidays some weeks ago, adding that “President Mills’s recent visit to the US entailed more than relaxation.”
Although our source could not disclose this, further nosing by the paper at the Castle, the seat of government, revealed that the delay in finalising the project was as a result of the company’s plea for tax incentives and other benefits from the nation.
“Given the recent brouhaha over Exxon-Mobil and Kosmos, the company chased the President to America to ensure that there would not be any last minute ambush by any company or persons when an official announcement is made in Ghana about their intention to move to the Central Region” a close confidant of the President told the paper.
As at press time, our source could not confirm which particular company it was, but gave a broad indication that it could either be Pepsi, Coca Cola, NJR Nabisco, or a sugar producing company.
The only issue that can break the deal now is the perception of an increasing unfriendly business environment in Ghana and concerns about the independence of the judiciary, the paper gathered.
It is against that background that the paper can state why the formal declaration of the factory has been put in the mouth of President Mills.
Should this happen, the people of Central Region, the paper gathered, will begin the long journey back to the days of the Komenda Sugar Factory, Assin Fosu Bamboo Factory, Saltpond Ceramics and others that are no longer giving employment.
“Today it is the likes of Coconut Grove Hotels, Golden Beach Resort, Anomabo Beach Resort and others in the tourism industry plus fishing that are keeping the sons and daughters of the region employed,” a source disclosed.
