The Ghana FA has set a seven-day timeline for coach Milovan Rajevac to append his signature to a new contract or risk losing his job.
The west African country is offering the Serbian a four-year contract extension after a successful two-year spell with them but a contractual issue with his manager is stalling the process.
“In the event he can’t resolve those issues, we have to look elsewhere,” FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi told BBC Sport.
“We pray and look forward to a resolution of whatever difficulties he is facing back home.
“We have a time limit of seven days from Sunday and on the expiry of that, if the news is not good, it means we have to [begin a new search],” Nyantakyi said.
The 56-year-old has on several occasions maintained his interest in coaching the Black Stars.
“He has not hidden his desire to work in Ghana even though he’s received better offers from [richer] clubs and national sides.
“But for him the results he achieves with Ghana are more satisfying,” Nyantakyi added.
Rajevac, who guided the four-time Africa champions to the Nations Cup final and World Cup quarter-final, has been linked with a move to Al Ahly but he has denied it outright.
