A deputy National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress- NDC, Hajia Zaynab Joyce Mahama, has stressed government’s preparedness to support actions aimed at protecting rights of children in the country.
Speaking to Today, Hajia Zaynab said the Mills administration is doing all it can to uphold the Constitution and also protect the rights of children.
In this direction she urged parents to take advantage of the opportunities available to educate their children on their fundamental human rights.
“It is only when children are given proper care and good education that Ghana can be assured of a brighter future for our future leaders. So I urge all parents to complement the work of government by sending their children to school,” she advised.
She also stressed the importance of family planning and indicated that it was for this reason that the Rawlings administration did all it could to educate Ghanaians on its importance.
“If the initiative by former President Rawlings had been taken in good faith, Ghana would have gone far in promoting manageable family sizes.”
…And it is because these policies have been implemented badly that is why government still spends much on street children,” she added.
The women’s organiser further advised parents to always get the needed information on how to plan a family to ensure a brighter future for their children most especially.
