Member of Parliament for Asikuma-Odobeng-Brakwa is accusing his colleagues in the minority of adopting unhealthy tactics to get rid of him in Parliament.

According to PC Appiah Ofori, he is gradually being made redundant in the House even though he has served at least three terms in Parliament.

In an interview with Joy News, the aggrieved MP said he suspects his allegations that his colleagues in the New Patriotic Party took $5,000 bribe before approving the GT/Vodafone deal in 2008 is the reason for his mistreatment.

He alleged he has been taken out of the Finance Committee of Parliament and yet to be given any other committee to serve on which is in blatant violation of Parliament’s own laws.

He also cited his sitting position on the floor of Parliament as one of the many punitive measures being adopted by his colleagues “Because I spoke against the $5000 issue, they wanted to punish me. But I stand by what I said. We could not sell Ghana telecom than to give away as we did. “Do you know where I seat [on the Floor of Parliament]… I am in my three year term. Should I be dumped among the new comers? Is that the proper place I be seated?” he quizzed.

He described as “stupid” anybody who is of the view that he has no right to criticise his colleagues openly in Parliament. “If they don’t like me at all, at least I should belong to one committee,” he said, adding that is what the constitution says.

The MP has formally filed a complaint to the Speaker. The Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu in reaction said his attention has been drawn to some of the complaints filed by his colleague. He said the Minority chief Whip Opare Ansah is working to resolve the problem.
