SCSA affirms recognition of Confederation of Africa Netball Associations
Posted by on December 21, 2010 at 9:49 am in Other Sports, Sports The Supreme Council of Sports in Africa (SCSA) has affirmed its recognition of the Confederation of Africa Netball Associations (CANA) as the only body in charge of the development and organization of netball programmes in the continent.
The decision was rubberstamped by Secretary General of SCSA, Sonstone Y. Khashiba at a meeting in Manzini, Swaziland on December 10, 2010, to resolve problems militating against the development of the sport on the continent.
Khashiba also asked all countries to cooperate with CANA to organize and supervise the sport at the forthcoming All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique next September.
The meeting also waived of dues of member countries and settled on 200 US Dollars as annual dues for 2011.
Reverend Emmanuel Nikoi, Director of Marketing and Publicity of CANA in a release copied to GNA Sports urged the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA) to spread its development projects equally to enhance the growth of netball across the continent.
The Secretary General of CANA, Sharifa Khamis of Tanzania informed the meeting that CANA is determined to organize a successful competition at the All Africa Games.
The meeting was attended by representatives of CANA Zones 3 and 5, IFNA and Confederation of Southern Africa Netball Associations (COSANA).
