Kpando sets agenda
Posted by on February 7, 2011 at 4:38 pm in Other Top StoriesIn line with President John Evans Atta Mills’ year of action and also under the NDC Better Ghana agenda, the Kpando District Assembly in the Volta Region has earmarked eighteen areas as its development target to transform the socio-economic fortunes of inhabitants in the area this 2011.
The Kpando District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Francis Komla Ganyaglo, who revealed this in an interview with Ghana Districts Today, said his main priority was to transform the district in the area of infrastructural development as part of the Better Ghana agenda in the NDC manifesto.
He hinted that some of the projects include the construction of Kpando District Police Headquarters, construction of Police Posts at Kpando Torkor and Gbefi, surfacing of Vakpo-Tsrukpe-Botoku-Torkor road, creation of the Kpando Industrial Zone, construction of the Kpando Shopping Mall, street naming and extension of street lights to various communities.
Others include construction of water systems in Kpando to be financed by the Government of Ghana (GOG) and IDA, renovation of Vakpo market, renovation of Kpando Torkor-Have-Kpando-Golo Kwati road as well as massive renovation of the Kpando sports stadium.
He indicated that educational structures, health posts and interventions in agriculture will be given prompt attention in an effort to encourage the youth to explore opportunities in the sector to better their livelihood.
Ghana Districts Today can report that Hon. Francis Komla Ganyaglo with support of his staff have been able to transform the Kpando township and its environs in the provision of modern facilities. It is under his tenure that the two lorry stations in Kpando have all been fixed with pavement blocks.
Whilst the intersection in front of the Ghana Commercial Bank have been installed with traffic lights recently for which residents have lauded the Kpando DCE for ensuring that the area did not lag behind under the Better Ghana development agenda.
A visit to various parts of the district revealed a fair share of development projects on-going as well as completed projects to impact positively on lives and aspirations of urban and rural dwellers.
At the Anfoega community for instance, rehabilitation of market stalls is in progress as well as other projects in Vakpo.
The surfacing of Kpando Sovie Kudera-Aveti including the Vakpo-Jordan-Nu-Tafi, Abuife feeder road is steadily on-going.
An ultra-modern slaughter house has been completed at Kpando waiting to be commissioned.
The river side Kpando Torkor market also had its structures rehabilitated including the fixing of street lights at the market to enhance trading activities.
Four Senior High Schools in the District have all benefitted from construction projects like dormitory and classroom blocks.
This remarkable performance of Hon. Ganyaglo, through an open-door policy and good relationship with the people has won the admiration of many residents in the district.
